My testimony
I was born into a Buddhist family and I had a grandpa who was a very strict Buddhist. He went to make merit very often, gave land to the monks for whatever they needed. I was taught to be a good person by my family. They taught me not to steal, lie, to respect my parents, do well in school, etc, My parents are both teachers. Ever since I was a child, I’ve tried to be a good person and to get rid of the bad things in my life. At that time, I believed that everyone had sin and receive the results of their sin. If you have a lot of sin, you will go to hell. Buddha teaches to stop sinning through the rules of Buddhism such as not killing animals/humans, etc, not lying, not stealing, not having mistresses, etc. I tried to do good things so that I could go to heaven and so that I wouldn’t be reborn again. I often thought about being a monk for the rest of my life because monks could stop sinning through meditation, etc.
During my first year at Kasetsart University, I met with a person who worked with CCP. He invited me to a lot of activities and I got to know a lot of people. He told me about the gospel. At first I didn’t believe but I started praying to God asking if He was real or not because I had never seen God or known about God before. I began to wonder about evolution and asked God about it. He told me to look in another book that said humans didn’t come from monkeys. I was very surprised because I had prayed to God about this and He answered. After that, whenever I had a problem, I would pray and God helped me every time. This is how I knew God was real and I wanted to learn more about God. I talked with the church staff and finally accepted Christ when I was a sophomore in college. The most important thing that made me believe is that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and I didn’t have to do good things on my own to go to Heaven and Jesus promised that I will live in Heaven after I die if I believe in Him.

Difficulties at the beginning of my conversion
At the beginning my parents accepted my conversion, however 6 months later, my mother wanted me to become a monk for a short time to make merit for her because this is normal in Thailand for sons to be a monk for a short time one time in their life. My mom was very serious when I refused to become a monk and my dad saw my mother very serious and so he tried to talk with me. He wanted me to convert back to Buddhism, but I refused to do it. My dad was trying to force me to convert. He wouldn’t let me go to church or talk with other Christians. However, I tried to do all these things without letting my dad know. He found out I didn’t obey him and he said he would kick me out of my house, but I just sat quietly and he didn’t kick me out of the house. My parents still didn’t accept it, but I stood firm and my parents gave up after 2 or 3 months. Through this, I became stronger in my faith and was able to show my true faith in Christ.
My friends knew that I had converted to Christianity and I was put outside of the group. However, I didn’t care and continued to try to talk with them like normal.
Growth Group
I work with United World Mission and I am currently leading a growth group which includes 9 students. The purpose of this group is to help them know what Christianity is and teach them the Bible as well as equip them to share their faith with their friends. The students in this group are Dang, Kat, Nicky, Oo-m, Gan, Fon, Bpun, Pete, and Nicky. Most of these students have become Christians within the last year and they all have their own struggles with their families, friends, and personal lives. Pete and Bpun just became Christians within the last several weeks. This group helps me when American students come to serve in Thailand for 2 months and they also work to build relationships with the Thai students we meet, so that they can share their faith with these students. Please continue to pray for them as they continue to grow in Christ and learn about Him.
Personal Needs
The first year I worked at church, I was an intern and it did not require raising any financial support. However, now that I am officially on staff, I also need to raise my own support. I would like to ask you to please pray about supporting me financially through United World Mission. My financial need every month is $450. If you would like to support me financially or through prayer, please e-mail me at arm_naruk@hotmail.com for more details. Thank you for your time and may God bless you.
